We’re looking for Outdoor Centre Wardens to join our team at Bonaly Outdoor Centre.

Bonaly Outdoor Centre is our beautiful campsite and activity centre based at the foot of the Pentland hills on the outskirts of Edinburgh. We are looking for Seasonal Outdoor Centre Wardens to join our team during our busy months of April to September, perhaps longer.

We are owned and operated by South East Scotland Regional Scout Council and provide Accommodation, Camping and Activities for Scouts and other Youth groups, schools, charities and corporate bodies.

There are a number of posts available as we are looking for a team of people to join us. These exciting roles are comprised of three areas of responsibility including Wardening and Guest liaison, Housekeeping and preparing accommodation and Outdoors work including issuing of Self-Led activity equipment and centre upkeep. These roles are key to supporting the delivery and success of centre business.

The times of work will usually be in the evenings and weekends but there may be some daytime hours as well.  An example of hours will be Fridays 4pm-10pm, Saturday 9am-8pm (with breaks throughout) and Sunday 9am-3pm.  The number of hours available to work each month will vary. Hours worked could be from 40-100 each month depending on how many groups we have in using the facilities and the hours that you wish to work.  Rotas are made up a month in advance.  There is an opportunity for the Warden to increase their hours if they are willing to develop as an Activity Instructor within the Centre.  (additional training and/or external qualifications will be required unless the relevant qualifications are held).

On busy weekends Wardens may be required to stay overnight to deal with any late arrivals/early departures and general assistance.  Accommodation will be provided free of charge if you are required to stay overnight.

This is an excellent opportunity for a person that enjoys working outdoors and has the ability to manage their own time and workload. You will be comfortable with the responsibility of helping to look after the Activity Centre and Campsite and customers using it. Working closely with the other staff members during the week, your role will come into it’s own during the evening and weekends when the Warden is the first point of contact for visitors.

This varied role will require a ‘hands on’ approach with flexibility to adapt quickly to changing priorities and new situations.
