It is your responsibility to ensure the correct payment has been transferred into the bank account.

Programme

The daily programme is flexible to take into account the varying needs of participants, the ages in the groups and the weather conditions. Young people participating for the entire week will almost certainly experience the following activities: Climbing, High Ropes, Archery, Hill Walking, Bushcraft, and plenty more. Daily programmes will be organised by the instructor along with the participants. This means that young people coming for one day will only participate in the activities set out for that day. Therefore we cannot guarantee any particular activities until their arrival on the day. A typical day will involve 2 activities; some days may include an adventurous exploration of the Pentlands.

Food

A packed lunch and water bottle (labelled, please!) must be brought by each young person. We will provide snacks of biscuits, juice and water for break times. There may be times where the young people are involved in cooking food over a campfire as part of the activities – please be sure to record any allergies on the booking form.

Health / Medical / Wellbeing of the young people

In order to support your young person we must be made aware of all health information and other information which may affect their participation. This information is confidential to the staff team but is critical to ensuring your young person has the best care whilst in attendance. Please provide details on the booking form of: friendships with other participants, siblings, behavioural / attachment issues, and confidence in unfamiliar groups / surroundings.

Clothing

Clothing must be suitable for outdoor activities (clothes may get muddy / dirty / ripped), and must be clearly labelled with the young person’s name.  We recommend dedicated outdoor clothing or sports clothing.  Regardless of the weather forecast, young people should always bring:

  • sturdy boots; hiking boots are best
PLEASE NOTE wellington boots are NOT suitable for most activities
  • warm top; fleece recommended
  • waterproof trousers
  • waterproof jacket.

Additionally all young people must bring a spare set of clothes and a towel – it’s better to bring spares than to get caught out!

Managing Safety

All activities contain inherent risk which is why safety is our top priority.  At all stages, activities are properly managed to keep a safe learning environment for young people.  We do this in a number of different ways, all of which can be discussed with parents on request.  It is important to note that we encourage young people to challenge themselves and to push their limits.  This can sometimes result in scrapes and bruises and we believe that this is an acceptable risk.

Signing in and out

All young persons must be signed in on arrival and signed out on departure.  Parents are responsible for ensuring Staff are aware of any other adults collecting their young person.

Insurance

Bonaly has the required insurance to cover its liabilities; however we cannot accept liability for the loss or damage of any property belonging to participants.

Privacy Policy

Bonaly Outdoor Centre, operated by South East Scotland Regional Scout Council, takes the issue of privacy very seriously and is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy in compliance with data protection law.  We collect names and contact details, as well as medical details of the young people.  Email addresses supplied will be used to provide information, and complete the administration of the booking, including requesting feedback.  We will retain limited information for the purposes of notifying you of future programmes, unless you opt out of this on the booking form.  For further details on how we process your details please email info@sesscouts.org.uk

Cancellation and Refund policy

  • No refund will be given for cancellation of confirmed bookings within 14 days of the activity
  • Any cancellation outside of this 14 day period mentioned will incur a £30 cancellation fee
  • Bonaly reserves the right to cancel a day’s activities, on the rare occasion of less than 8 places having been booked; a full refund for that day will be issued.
