Things to look forward to at Bonaly this Autumn...

Can you ESCAPE?

ESCAPE! is Bonaly’s brand new self-led activity. Made up of five problem solving challenges to test teamwork skills. Do you have what it takes to complete all five and escape?

First, The Vortex must be negotiated and there is only one safe route! Next is Shark Island and if you survive, the Spiders’ Web must be tackled. Now, the Unexploded Device must be defused before you attempt to cross the Acid Lake to freedom. ESCAPE! is available to book NOW and is suitable for Cubs and older.

BOOK NOW

Explorers Halloween Survival Weekend 29th – 30th October is fully booked

There has been a great response to the first Halloween Survival Camp for Explorers and the event is now fully booked. We are planning on making this an annual event. If you’re interested keep an eye out for our 2023 events calendar…coming out later in the year.

Information packs have been sent out to all those booked. If you have a question please email the team.

And there’s more

Ken’s Den, our new accommodation area behind the Barn and at the side of the main field, is due to open later this year. Final preparations and planning are underway for its opening. More information will follow shortly.

Book ahead – October and November are looking busy for bookings so we recommend you forward plan any stays or activity bookings in advance. At the time of going to ‘print’ there is space in the Forth Lodge for the last weekend of November and for early December. The Chalet is also free the last weekend in November. There’s also plenty of availability for self-led activity bookings and camping.

And looking back....

Bonaly was delighted to be the venue for the Braid District flag competition in September. Six patrols from across the District attended a sunny Bonaly.

A big Bonaly congratulations to the 4th Braid who were the winners on the day.

Well done guys!

Volunteer opportunities and service projects at Bonaly Scout Centre

Across our 24 acre site we can camp 400 people and also provide residential accommodation for almost 100 people. As you can imagine, on such a large site we are constantly working to improve and refurbish the facilities and buildings and we rely almost entirely on volunteers to do this work.

If you or a team would like to help have a positive impact on the young people across Edinburgh we have projects (indoors and outdoors) for all sizes of team and abilities to support. It might be painting, planting trees, helping us design and build new activities for young people, cutting back bushes or helping us refurbish a tired building. The choice will depend on you, the time of year and the size and make up of group you have.

We like to get to know you and discuss what you are looking to achieve so that we can provide the right project for you and your team.

In return for a fun and productive day volunteering at Bonaly we’ll be delighted to provide refreshments and promote your activities on social media (if you’d like us to).
