Bonaly Scout Centre: A come and have a go day on Saturday 14th August

On Saturday 14th August from 10am Bonaly Scout Centre situated in Bonaly just outside of the Colinton Village is opening its doors for an exclusive event for those interested in becoming a Bonaly Scout Centre volunteer. Could this be you or someone you know?

We are keen to offer opportunities to those who would like to volunteer with us. We have a dedicated team of two wardens and volunteers who provide a Scout focused activities programme based around activities, camping and residential accommodation.  If this appeals to you or a friend then we encourage you to pop along and see Bonaly Scout Centre for yourself – there is no obligation to join.

You must pre-register to attend this free event – book HERE

 Are you?

A do-er and give-it-a-goer?
Enjoy the great outdoors?
Take enjoyment out of helping young people as they gain skills for life?

We are looking for volunteers to help us deliver high quality, fun activities to Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers. There will be opportunities for volunteer activity instructors, activity assistants and roles facilitating and developing self-led activities.

Volunteers will help Bonaly to:

  • Run and assist activity session for our young people.
  • Or teach bushcraft and traditional Scouting Skills.
  • Or provide self-led activities.
  • Or deliver high quality Leader training.

To meet Scout standards volunteers would join the Scout Association and we would provide you with free training. If you already have skills in the programme activities, we can discuss this and if you want to develop activity-based skills, we will work out a route (free courses and buddying with experienced volunteers).

Come and have a go day:

On Saturday 14th August from 10:00am till 16:00pm we are inviting anyone interested in volunteering with the Bonaly Scout Centre to come for a site visit and ‘have a go’ at some of our activities. You can come for the whole day (bringing some lunch – we will do tea/coffee) or part day. If you are interested, we must know in advance to confirm attendance for official reasons, so only come if you have registered with us.

More about Bonaly:

Bonaly is where we bring Scouting to life, it’s where Scouts come for adventures, inspiration and where we create a lifetime of memories.

Bonaly Scout Centre is a 24-acre site to the South of Edinburgh at the foot of the Pentland hills. Situated in Bonaly just outside Colinton Village with easy access from the City Bypass and only five miles / eight kilometres from the city centre, the site has both indoor accommodation and camping facilities. Many activities are available both on and off site. From the slopes above the site there is a magnificent panoramic view across Edinburgh to the Firth of Forth and beyond.

As well as Scouts from all over the UK, we take bookings from Guides and groups like schools seeking outdoor educational activities.

It’s a great setting for any volunteer and you can have fun while gaining new skills, knowledge and experience. What’s not to like. Come along and have a go – these opportunities don’t come around often so grab the chance while you can!
