We’re really pleased to announce that South East Scotland Region has grown once again this year, for the 7th consecutive time.  Regional membership now stands at 6,956 young people and 1,500 adult volunteers.

We’re really priveleged and proud to welcome almost 300 new members to the Region, made up of 233 young people and 66 adult volunteers.  That’s a growth on last year of 3.5% and 4.6% respectively!  We have seen increased growth of young women joining Scouting this year, with an increase of 11% on 2015.

The fastest growing section this year is our youngest, the Beavers. More than 100 young people have joined our first section and we’re delighted that they have started their Scouting adventure.

Across the Region we have had a number of new sections open – 3 Beaver Colonies, 6 Cub Packs, 5 Scout Troops and 2 Explorer Scout Units.

We’re also taken aback by the popularity of the Young Leader scheme in the Region.  There has been an increase of nearly 25% in participants of the scheme, which greatly strengthens the future base of leaders so that young people can continue to enjoy Scouting in the future.

Finally, let us say thank you to all of the young people and adult volunteers that make Scouting happen in South East Scotland.
