Scouting in South East Scotland Region

We are one of the largest Regions in Scotland supporting over 7,300 young people with 2,300 volunteers – leaders and supporting adults – spread across seven Districts. We have two outdoor centres: Bonaly Scout Centre and Longcraig Scout Centre. Our members are supported by a Regional Leadership Team and a Regional Executive Committee.

Regional Office Support

We are looking for a number of volunteers to support the functioning of our virtual Regional Office which provides a range of important services, ensuring that we effectively support our adult volunteers and young people.

Specifically, we are looking for:

Finance Volunteers – Good with numbers?

We are looking for a volunteer(s) interested in assisting the Regional Treasurer to record the Regional finances. You don’t need formal financial qualifications – just a capacity to work effectively with finances and be able to give up to 3 hours per week of your time volunteering from your own home.

Admin Volunteers – Good at getting things done?

We are looking for a volunteer(s) interested in helping the virtual Regional Office to function well, answering queries from members and the public; engaging suppliers; supporting the Regional Team. You don’t need formal qualifications – just good planning and organisation skills and be able to give up to 3 hours per week of your time volunteering from your own home.

Training Support Volunteers – Good at helping to develop others?

We are looking for a volunteer(s) to support our training function, helping with admin around the training we provide as well as ensuring our training equipment is fit for purpose. You don’t need qualifications – just a desire to help ensure our adult volunteers have the training they need to support our young people and be able to give up to 3 hours per week of your time.

Archivist – interested in preserving the past?

We are looking for a volunteer archivist to help ensure we accurately assemble, maintain, record and store our Scouting archives. You will preferably have some experience of archiving as well as a desire to preserve our range of artefacts, records and other material. The role can fit the time you have available to devote to the work.
