We’re absolutely delighted with the figures returned by our annual Census of Membership, carried out at the start of this year, which show an eighth consecutive year of growth!
For the eighth consecutive year Scouting has grown in South East Scotland – youth members have increased by 176 and adult volunteer numbers are up by 451!
The strongest sectional growth this year is shown in the Cub section which has welcomed 106 new members, accounting for more than half of the growth of new youth members.
We’re also really pleased to see that more girls are joining Scouting in the Region than ever before, with the proportion of young women in Scouting rising again for the twelfth year in a row.
All of this is a credit to our fantastic volunteers across the Region – whether giving up just a few hours as a parent helper, or using your summer holidays at work to take Explorers on an expedition to an amazingly distant location – we couldn’t do it without you.
There are still 131 young people on waiting lists in the Region so we still need more adult volunteers to support the work we do with young people from all backgrounds. So whether you’d like to help look after the finances of your local group, or take some Beavers on their first night away, we have a volunteer role to suit you.
