Interest in canoeing for DofE expeditions continues to grow, with 40 Explorers from 11 Units undertaking their Silver or Gold expedition in 2022.  Training is now underway, with our first sessions spending time on the personal kit and equipment used in canoe expeditions, in preparation for the paddle skills development on the water starting in early April.

In addition to coordinating the Region’s DofE paddle expeditions, the Longcraig Sea Explorer Scout Unit is providing Explorers in the Region with the opportunity to develop their skills and gain achievements in sailing, paddling and powerboating.  

Meeting once a month at the weekend, Explorers have already been powerboating and sailing on the Forth.  The calendar of meeting dates is published on the Unit’s website (Google: “Longcraig Explorers”) and opportunities are open to any Explorers who are interested in watersports-based activities.  Any Explorers or adults interested in getting involved should email longcraig.explorers@yahoo.com.  You can follow news of the DofE paddle expeditions and the watersports activities of Longcraig Explorers on the Unit’s Facebook page and website.
