Fun in the sun at Lauderdale

Quick links

The sun was shining on Bonnie Lauderdale in the Scottish Borders on Sunday 21st August as the whole Lauderdale Scout Group gathered for a get together in the grounds of the beautiful Thirlestane Castle,

It’s been long overdue with covid etc but all 8 sections were represented from the newly formed Squirrels to the Explorer Unit.

With nearly 140 members of the group assembled for an afternoon of team challenges. The teams were fully mixed with all age ranges in each team.

The activities ranging from building the tallest tower, welly wanging, fancy dress relay, ski races, and traditional Scottish themed activities such as “Tug o War”, Shot Put, Maide Leisg (Scots Gaelic for lazy stick) a 2 person sitting tug of war and caber toss.

The afternoon was rounded off by a BBQ .

It certainly was a successful event and we hope to repeat something similar next year. Thanks to the amazing powerhouse of leaders and helpers for making this happen. Events like this don’t just happen – they take time, and planning. The care and attention of the leaders meant the local young people had an epic fun day out with their scouting friends. Memories were made.
