Make a difference by getting involved in our NEW Executive Committee

The Jedburgh Scout Group currently doesn’t have an Executive Committee and we are putting a call out for willing helpers to become our new team of volunteers and help out in a flexible and supportive way. Interested? Know someone who might be interested? Having new volunteers will help the Scout Group to function AND you can make a personal difference behind the scenes … at the ‘business end’ of the Scout Group! You can do good, have fun and make it fit with your lifestyle too. What’s not to like.

The Jedburgh Scout Group  is part of the Scottish Borders Scout District which is part of the South East of Scotland Scout Region.

The NEW Executive Committee will play a vital role in the running of the Jedburgh Scout Group. We basically can’t function without it.

The Committee makes decisions and carries out administrative tasks to ensure that the resources are available so that the best quality Scouting can be delivered locally in the Group. These volunteer roles are more about the skills you can bring to the role so please never assume your skills won’t be of use. And, you don’t need to have had Scouts experience before or be Bear Grylls to join in. Really!  Everyone is welcome.

Joining our Executive Committee is an exciting way to be part of Scouts in a non-uniformed role, playing a valuable role in making sure we deliver the best experiences to our young people.

Jedburgh Scout Group needs:

  1. 1. New Chair: Do you have good leadership skills and enjoy motivating a team?
  1. 2. New Treasurer: Are you good at keeping track of money?
  1. 3. New Secretary: Do you have good administration skills?
  1. 4. New Executive members: If you would like to help but don’t have the time then this is a great way of helping.

The Group Executive Committee:

Our Executive Committee will be made up of people who shape our decisions, approve our strategy and monitor our performance.

Though ‘Executive’ sounds a bit formal, it is actually not like that at all! We are a relaxed group of like-minded individuals! These roles are ideal for those who do not necessarily wish to work directly with young people but would like to help to support and develop Scouting a couple of hours or so a month.

As you know, Scouts is both a young person and adult experience – making friends, trying something new, doing something good for both your community and yourself and importantly making memories. It’s adventurous and rewarding. This Scouting adventure is only possible thanks to our superstar volunteers – ordinary people, like YOU, making an extraordinary difference to young people’s lives.

Your opportunity:

This is your chance to be extraordinary and help in a flexible way! Joining our committee is not as posh as it sounds but we do like to have fun.

  • *Minimal commitment – only a couple of hours a month
  • *Flexible volunteering to fit around you – your skills/interests/time
  • *Alongside like-minded people – we’re easy to get on with
  • *Great fun – it sounds formal, but it isn’t!
  • *Make a difference – get that ‘feel good factor’

This is an exciting time for the Jedburgh Scout Group. As a member of the Executive Committee, you can play an essential part, be impactful and make a difference! This is flexible volunteering to fit around you.
