There will be a vacancy for the role of District Commissioner from April 2017 Jenny Tait McGillivray the current DC will have completed her 5 year appointment and has decided not to renew the appointment.
In line with the usual practice nominations are invited from suitable and interested potential volunteers to take up this role. A copy of the Job Description is attached. However, the key role of the DC is to provide visible leadership, direction and support as well as inspiring and motivating the District Team and leaders in the District.
It is really important that the position of District Commissioner is filled by someone who can demonstrate leadership and management skills. Nominations can be from and for people already involved, those who have previous Scouting experience or those new to adult volunteering in Scouting.
Support will be given to whoever is appointed to the role, this will include training and development, mentoring and tailored personal support.
You can either nominate someone who you think would be good in the role or you can self-nominate using the same form. Please send completed nomination forms to me at rc@sesscouts.org.uk, or for my attention at the Regional Scout Office, 71 Bonaly Road Edinburgh EH13 7PB not later than Monday 19th December 2016.
