Each year, our Census gives us key information about our membership figures and the Districts and Region that support them. It also helps us identify areas of growth and get information about the demographics of our movement, which helps us work with partners, funders, and governments.

As communicated last month, more time is being given to complete the process in 2024. Passwords have now been communicated and the site will open on Wednesday 20 December.

For 2024, we’d like you to complete your Census based on the day in January you complete your return, rather than 31 January. Please make sure you have all the relevant data (such as youth figures, top award data, and diversity data) to hand before submitting your return.

To help with our strategic aim of inclusion, for this year’s Census we are asking groups and districts to help us to improve the data return for information about ethnicity and religion for young people in Scouting. Whilst there is a “Prefer not to say” option, we have historically seen it being used more often in the Scout census that in other similar data. This information will help us to understand the profile of scouting in South East Scotland when targeting resources and funding.
