I am delighted to welcome Rob Whitelaw as the District Commissioner for Edinburgh North East.
He took on this role in June 2017, having started his scouting journey nearly 40 years ago as a Cub Scout with 1st Portobello Scout Group. He became an assistant with the brand new Beaver Colony when Beavers were first launched 30 years ago and the following year took on the Scout Leader role with the same Group.
Rob Whitelaw – new District Commissioner for Edinburgh North East
Rob has been Group Scout Leader with 1st Portobello (now 101st Edinburgh North East Scout Group) since 2001.
In 2012, he became ADC General Duties and in 2015 was appointed as Deputy District Commissioner in Edinburgh North East.
Since becoming District Commissioner, his work has concentrated on recruiting a full District Team. With a focus on Youth-Led Scouting in the District, he has recently appointed an ADC Youth Involvement and is currently recruiting some young members to the District Executive. He is looking forward to the energy, creativity and ideas that the new District Managers will bring.
