Melrose Scouts Rafting
On Sunday 6th June, Melrose Scouts held a rafting event on the River Tweed just outside Melrose. The Scouts had spent two of their summer term weekly sessions building and decorating their rafts. On the day itself they were supported by Malcolm Leckie and his son Mike from the Longcraig Scout Centre in Edinburgh. Malcolm arranged a number of activities including races and challenges such as transporting team members from one side of the river to the other and back again. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day and it was great to see Scouts enjoying water-based activities on their doorstep.
Rotary Club Young Citizen Awards
Ronan and Angus, Explorer Scouts at Corstorphine were recently awarded the Young Citizens Award by Forbes Howie, President of Corstorphine Rotary Club. They have been outstanding over the past year throughout lock down with their antics. Continuing to assist at the cub pack and attend Explorer Scouts; online, outdoors in person, in all weathers and in the community. They had cubs and families joining in online. From the north of Scotland to south of the border, people joined in, bringing families together. One night they had over 100 people on a bingo fun night. They hosted an online ceilidh, crafting, scout skills, fitness, camping at home, and much more outdoors. Their scouting video challenges for the Cubs were amazing. The cubs and parents were so proud to witness the presentation.
Well done Angus and Ronan.
