On Saturday 26th March the 10th Craigalmond Scout Group and Douglas Brown Explorers took part in a sponsored hike around the Pentlands to raise vital funds to support the general upkeep of our Scout Hall and to help subsidise future scouting events.
Each section – Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers – followed their own route and met up at Bonaly to finish with a campfire where parents were also in attendance.
Around 120 people were there and managed to raise more than £2,800.It was glorious sunshine and a brilliant day to be on the hills. It was the first time the Group have been all together in almost 3 years.Although we were slightly concerned that everyone would have forgotten all the words to the songs, it was not an issue and everyone had a great time. We were even joined by District Commissioner Mark Hesketh who also happened to be at Bonaly at the same time. It was a great way to mark the return to some form of normality and the fundraising efforts of everyone involved were outstanding.

Have fun, make friends and develop new skills. Our Scout Groups are run entirely by volunteers. Each week leaders give up some of their time to plan and run weekly meetings for Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. As well as this, there are a large number of volunteers who help behind the scenes to ensure that the Group runs smoothly.
In order to continue running such a full and diverse range of activities for our young people, we need your help!
Please get in touch if you would like to volunteer – either working directly with young people, or behind-the-scenes. Even if you can only spare an hour a month, we would love to hear from you.
