All Leaders will be aware of the recent email from Tim Kidd, UK Chief Commissioner, instructing that ALL face to face Scouting activities are suspended until further notice due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. Schools have also been instructed to cancel planned events and as a result we have decided to close the Regional Scout Centres until 30th June 2020 to ensure the safety of our customers, volunteers and staff.

All customers with a booking during the period 16th March to 30th June will be contacted by our teams over the course of the next month and will be offered the choice of transferring to an alternative date or a refund.

Please be assured that we continue to monitor the situation to determine the earliest possible date when we can safely reopen for business as determined by the National Governments and The Scouts.

In summary,

  • Bookings planned between 16th March and 30th June 2020.

Customers will be contacted and offered an alternative date or a refund.

  • Bookings planned from 1st July 2020 onwards

Customers can request a change of date without any financial penalty however bookings cancelled after 30th June 2020 will not be offered a refund of their deposit if within 21 days of the booked activity.

  • Bookings for the autumn term

As bookings are being rescheduled, availability will be limited during this period. We encourage everyone planning an event later this year to contact the Longcraig teams or check on-line to determine our availability.

We understand this may cause disappointment for you and your young people who were planning to attend, but we are sure you appreciate we are in unprecedented times. If you have any queries please contact bookings@longcraig.info.

The Longcraig team is preparing some ‘Scouting Indoors’ ideas with a specific water activity twist, to help provide some aspect of activity training over the next few months. These will most likely be prepared and issued as a ‘drip feed’ (water term!) throughout the closure period.

And finally, although we are closed to activities, we do seek to continue our search for new volunteers throughout the period, so any leaders, adults, Network, Explorers or parents/friends who might have some time available once we are back to normal, please do get in touch at getinvolved@longcraig.info. We have opportunities for water skilled folks, water un-skilled folks, ground team who might never need to get their feet wet, and people with specific technical skills that they might be able to share / impart.

In the meantime, we wish you, your families, Scout groups and young people well especially during these difficult times.
