When the curtain came down on the Edinburgh Gang Show 2018 work began almost immediately to prepare for the 60th Edinburgh Gang Show which was presented at the King’s Theatre in November 2019.

Over 250 young people, supported by over 100 adult volunteers, worked tirelessly for many months to produce a show that was of the highest standard possible to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee show. To recognise their involvement every member of the show was presented with a certificate and the Main Gang and adults were presented with a limited-edition woggle and the Junior Gang were presented with a unique Gang Show badge with a ‘diamond’ affixed.

The show garnered numerous four-star reviews from various media organisations and over 5,500 people attended the show. The feedback has been superb.

Guests to the show included Christine Hunter Hughes (National President of the National Operatic and Dramatic Association), Stuart McCue-Dick (Councillor of NODA Scotland) Duncan Hendry (Chief Executive of Capital Theatres), Cllr Joan Griffiths (Depute Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh) Commissioners from South East Scotland Scouts and Girlguiding Edinburgh and members of the Brisbane, Melbourne, Coventry, Crewe, Milton Keynes, Newcastle, Glasgow, Stirling, Dundee and London Gang Shows.

At the Saturday evening performance, we were honoured to welcome Tim Kidd (UK Chief Commissioner, The Scouts) Andrew Sharkey (Chief Commissioner, Scouts Scotland) and Moira McKenna (Scottish Chief Commissioner, Girlguiding Scotland) to the King’s Theatre. Their presence with us added to the very special atmosphere during Gang Show week.

The Edinburgh Gang Show is a major part of the programme that is offered by South East Scotland Scouts and Girlguiding Edinburgh so on behalf of everyone involved in Gang Show we would like to say thank you for your support over the past 60 years. “We’ve Got a Lot To Be Thankful For!”

It will soon be time to start working on the Edinburgh Gang Show 2020 – more details will follow in the New Year.
