Did you know that an Appointments Committee is mandatory for each District? It exists to assist with the process of appointing adults in Scouting.
The purpose of the appointment process is to ensure that all those adults that the Movement accepts as volunteers are fit and proper persons to volunteer with the Scout Association; are appropriate for the role they are undertaking; and fully accept the responsibilities of the role.
The Committee is responsible for:
- interviewing candidates and approving appointments including new appointments and changes in appointment;
- providing advice to the appropriate Commissioner on the outcome of suspension of membership for an adult appointment;
- providing advice to the appropriate Commissioner on the renewal of appointments;
- taking part in the resolution of complaints from applicants regarding the outcome of the appointment process.
Are you responsible for an Appointments Advisory Committee or are you a member? Have you been on the training? If not, why not book onto the next course – just click here for more information or to book!
