The chair will be responsible to the Regional Centre’s Team Lead .  

Responsible for:
This role is key to the leadership and management of Bonaly Scout CentreThe Chair along with the established leadership team will have overall responsibility for the Centre. 

Main Contacts:
Bonaly Centre managers, Bonaly Leadership team, Bonaly Service team, Regional Centres Team Lead, Chair, Longcraig, Regional Lead Volunteer, Regional Trustee Board Members, Regional Volunteers. In addition, there are several important external bodies including City of Edinburgh Council, Scouts Scotland and Scout Adventures. 

 

A bit about the Centre and the Role 

Based in a unique location in Scotland’s capital city and on the edge of the Pentland Hills Bonaly has just benefited from major investment and has: 

  • Two large camping fields that can accommodate up to 400 campers. 
  • Two residential buildings that can accommodate a total of 78 people, plus Ken’s Den a small ‘self contained village’ for 24 people. 
  • A range of Indoor and outdoor activities including a high ropes, low ropes, archery and self-led activities.

Bonaly Scout Centre is a key enabler in delivering the Region’s strategy to support and empower our volunteers to deliver an amazing programme.

The Chair will have overall responsibility for Bonaly, working with the Leadership team to ensure the Centre meets its aims & objectives now and into the futureThe role will provide overall leadership & direction of Bonaly and be responsible for leading the ongoing management of the Centre and its activitiesThis involves the setting of objectives and ongoing management of the two paid Bonaly Centre Managers. The role will lead the preparation of the annual revenue & capital budgets and present these to the Regional Trustee Board for approvalThe role will also be responsible for providing regular operational progress reports to the Regional Trustee Board. This role is a great chance to lead our Bonaly team and help to ensure the long-term success of the Centre.
