You can rediscover your youth, fun, friends, sense of adventure, community spirit and more and all the above as an adult volunteer with Scouts. All of our South East Scotland Scouts are supported by unpaid leaders, administrators, skills instructors, role models and helpers. Could we include you?

We’re looking for Assistant Leaders, Section Assistants, Leaders and other helpers to support our young people of South East Scotland Scouts. We have 88 Scout Groups in Edinburgh, East Lothian, Midlothian and the Scottish Borders with lots of flexible opportunities.

The good news is you shape what you do and decide how much time you give. Scouts happens when a lot of us give a little (and no, you don’t have to be a Scout or outdoors expert to volunteer). PS And for those of you who have not been involved in Scouts before – you are most welcome too. Everyone is!

Adult volunteers are at the heart of Scouting, and we hope that you will get every bit as much out of it as you put in. And bring back some fond memories as well as making new memories!

It’s not only about young people, but also about the development and well being of the adults who support.

Be an everyday hero – calling all smilers, inspirers, team players, activity planners and all-round doers!

You don’t need to be Bear Grylls to volunteer…

We’ve already got one Chief Scout, and he’s brilliant. We are looking for those with a positive, can-do attitude who want to inspire and support our local young people. Volunteers are what makes everything happen.

Scouts is needed now more than ever. Young people have been hit hard by the pandemic – with two thirds saying it’s impacted their mental health. Having people positive role models to guide the way, and give that extra bit of encouragement is so important in times like these. We help young people step up, speak and find their place in the world. We help them gain skills for life.

Help inspire the doers and the give it a goers of the future. Together we help them take a deep breath, ignore the butterflies and go for it.’
