Young Leaders’ Scheme

Young Leaders – a key part of Scouting

The Regional Adviser (Young Leaders) is Kirsty Ireland.  She works with the ARC (Explorers) and with the Explorer Scout Leaders – Young Leaders (known as ESL YLs) in the Districts to coordinate the Young Leaders’ Scheme across the Region.

Being a Young Leader is fun and YLs learn a great deal from the experience – especially if all of the training is completed. It counts for the Volunteering section of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and the Chief Scout’s and Queen’s Scout Awards. It can also be used for the Saltire Awards and is recognised by the Institute of Leadership and Management.
