The Explorer Scout Young Leaders scheme is undergoing some very positive changes, Scouting is investing in this area to improve the experience for young people and adults alike. Some small, but significant changes have been made to the scheme including new training materials and an updated Logbook. While awaiting the final publication of the Logbook a temporary ESYL Record book has been created for the Region, and this will be issued to all ESYLs. It has been sent to ESL (YL)s and DESCs for distribution.
For new ESYLs this replaces the old Placement Agreement and the Agreement on page 5 should be completed at the start of their placement. For all ESYLs it contains useful information and a place to record the contact details of the Leaders they work with, and their progress with training.
Full information relevant to all section leaders can be found here.
The Region are looking for more volunteers to help out with delivery of ESYL modules. It would be great if Section Leaders of Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers who have valuable insights to share, would be willing to commit to delivering a module once every 2 months. This would greatly assist the training of the young people who help in some of these sections. If you would like to get involved, please get in touch with Kirsty Ireland the ESYL Regional Advisor (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Thank you to all the current volunteers who continue to support our invaluable ESYLs within the Region.
