
- What is the South East Scotland Regional Family Gala?
The Regional Family Gala is a fun-filled day for Scouts, their families, and volunteers. It features a variety of activities, including fairground and Highland Games, laser tag, archery, high ropes, inflatables, scout skills and much more!
- When and where is the event taking place?
The event will be held at Bonaly Scout Centre on 6 & 7 September 2025.
- Who can attend?
The event is open to all young people in Scouting, their families, and adult/Network volunteers. Whether you’re a Squirrel, Beaver, Cub, Scout, or Explorer, there’s something for everyone!
- Do I need to attend both days?
No, you can choose to attend either one or both days, depending on your availability.
Tickets & Booking
- When do tickets go on sale?

- How much do tickets cost?
The costs per young person, per day is £7 which will be payable when booking attendance. Under 4’s go free but please note the range of activity for under 4’s is more limited. (Accompanying adults and adult volunteers are free).
- Is there a deadline for booking?
We recommend booking as early as possible to secure your place, as spaces are limited. A final booking deadline will be announced closer to the event.
- Are group bookings available?
Yes! Section Leaders can arrange group bookings for their young people. Please contact event.support@sesscouts.org.uk if you wish to do this.
Activities & Programme
9. What activities will be available?
You will be able to try everything that Bonaly has to offer, such as High Ropes, Archery, Tomahawks, Grass Sledging, Zip line and many more. There will be lots of craft activities to try, fairground games, giant inflatables, Laser tag, escape rooms and other fun games. We will also have a demonstration area, showing off many of the different ways in which Bonaly can be used by Scouting and other groups, where you can try your hand at different Scouting Skills, such as pioneering, bushcraft and backwoods cooking. We will also have activities from Longcraig, our other Regional Centre, the Gang Show and the Army.
- Will there be scheduled times for activities?
Some activities will require advance sign-up, but most activities will be drop-in. We will share details ahead of the event.
- What should participants wear and bring?
Please wear your neckie (if you have one) but feel free to wear uniform if you want to. As this is an outdoor event, participants should wear comfortable clothing and sturdy footwear. A waterproof jacket, refillable water bottle, and sun protection are also recommended depending on the weather.
- Will there be food and drink available?
Yes, there will be pay-as-you-go catering options on-site. Participants are also welcome to bring their own packed lunches and snacks.
Logistics & Accessibility
- Where can I park?
We will be running a free shuttle service from Redford Army Barracks, Colinton Road, to the site and back, throughout the weekend. There will be free parking available at the Barracks – the shuttle service will be staggered throughout the day and can be reserved via the booking system.
- Is there parking at Bonaly Scout Centre?
No, there is no parking available at Bonaly Scout Centre – there will be accessible parking on site for those that need it by prior arrangement.
- Is the event accessible for those with additional needs?
We aim to make the event as accessible as possible. If you or someone in your group has specific needs, please contact us at event.support@sesscouts.org.uk in advance so we can assist with arrangements.
- What happens if it rains?
The event will go ahead rain or shine, so please come prepared for all weather conditions! Some activities may be adjusted in case of extreme weather.
- Can I bring my dog?
Unfortunately, pets are not allowed, except for registered assistance dogs.
Safety & Supervision
- Will young people need to be supervised?
Yes. Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers must be supervised i.e. by their parents/carers, leaders or a responsible adult.
- What safety measures are in place?
All activities will be run by trained staff, and first aid will always be available on-site.
- What if someone gets lost?
A meeting point will be set up for lost children or group members. Leaders, volunteers and parents/carers will be briefed on the procedure for reuniting lost participants.
